An employee can request leave in BrightPay using the Employee Self Service Portal. Here’s how the process works:
1. Log in to the Employee Self Service Portal here.
- The employee logs in using their credentials on a PC, Mac, tablet, or smartphone.
2. Access the Leave Request Section:
- Within the portal, the employee navigates to the calendar or leave section.
3. Submit a Leave Request:
- The employee selects the dates for their leave and submits the request through the portal.
4. Employer Notification:
- The employer (or designated manager) receives an email notification and a notification in the Employee/Manager Portal employee.brightpay.com that a leave request has been submitted.
5. Review and Approve/Reject:
- The employer logs into the Managers Portal employee.brightpay.com , reviews the request under Notifications, and can choose to Approve, Reject, or View/Edit the request.
6. Employee Notification:
- The employee receives an email notification once the request is approved or rejected. If approved, the leave is added to both the employer-wide calendar and the employee’s calendar in the portal.
**Note:**
- The ability for employees to request leave must be enabled by the employer in the Employee Self Service settings.
- Employers can also allow employees to cancel leave or update personal details through the portal.
Types of leave that can be requested
In the employee self-service portal, you can request annual leave and Unpaid leave.
For employees who have their annual leave entitlement set in days: you select the same date in both the "From" and "To" fields, you'll have the option to choose whether the leave request is for a full day, half day, quarter day, or three-quarters of a day.
For employees who have their annual leave entitlement set in hours: you select the same date in both the "From" and "To" fields, you'll have the option to choose the number of hours for that date.
However, there is currently no option for employees to request sick leave or maternity/paternity leave through the self-service portal. These types of leave requests must be managed by the employer or payroll administrator within the main BrightPay Dashboard.
