When sending payments from BrightPay to Modulr, you may see an error message stating that the post town is required, and the payment will not send. This issue is usually caused by the way employee address details are entered.
What’s causing the error?
Modulr expects the address to be complete and continuous. However, if there are blank lines in the address, Modulr stops reading the address at the first blank line and assumes there is nothing else to follow.
For example:
- Address line 1: entered
- Address line 2: entered
- Address line 3: blank
- Address line 4: entered
In this case, Modulr only reads up to address line 2. Because the rest of the address is ignored, it may treat the post town or other required parts of the address as missing, triggering the error.
How to fix it
To resolve this:
- Open the employee record(s) shown as affected by the error.
- Check the address lines for any gaps (blank lines between populated lines).
- Move any address details up to remove the blank line. For example:
- If address line 3 is blank and address line 4 contains the town, move the town from line 4 to line 3.
- Save the updated address.
Once you’ve removed the blank lines and saved the changes, the payment should go through to Modulr without issue.
